Was That Wrong?

spacer This piece was influenced by world politics, especially George Bush's world politics. George W. Bush's words are contrasted with those of Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Haile Selassie and others, as a Electronic Dancehall Reggae track pulses underneath. The lyrical content was all found on various websites and arranged in digidesign's Pro Tools Software.

Receding

My piece consists of Reason drum loops that have been altered, and synthesizers for the rest of the melodic parts. The song is very Drum'n Bass oriented. The spoken text is from a U.S. History reading.

David Guthrie

"1143"

This piece is guitar-driven, rock-induced Electronica. The focal point of 1143 is definitely the vocals, with stop-and-go guitar taking a close second. Enjoy.

Once Out of Nature

This is an Industrial/Techno piece centering around Reason's sequencing & sounds. The song is more about the music than the vocals, hence their background nature

Midnight Cruisin'

I used to live in Los Angeles. Over there, the lifestyle is a little different from New York: everybody drives. When I moved to New York I sold my car, so I never get the chance to drive on the freeway. I titled my track Midnight Cruisin' because I miss driving at night in L.A.--especially late at night, when there is no traffic and the ride is very smooth.

Affirmation

Since the fall of the towers, I have been exploring the relationship between Middle Eastern and Western cultures. Affirmation juxtaposes the two by combining the Arabic melodic scales and the Baio rhythm, with Western techno rhythms and harmony. Like the aimless shifting of sands in the Arabian Desert, synthetic vocal textures drift against a firmly rooted key center.
