Production: Heartbroken

Artist: Shystar

Listen!

Program Notes: The song Heartbroken is a dramatic and serious R & B song about a woman and her boyfriend going through some difficult times in their relationship. The song is sung from the perspective of the woman in the relationship. The lyrics of the song convey a story to the listener in which she describes her broken feelings and emotional emptiness that she would experience if the couple were to break up.

The artist behind the song is a woman named Shystar. It is her powerful voice and tremendously emotional vocal performance that gives the listener the ability to connect with her on a level in which they understand and feel the pain she is going through. It is her vocal performance that really drives the emotional part of the song home in the mind of the listener.

Musically, the song contains a nicely varied assortment of instruments ranging from guitars and piano to strings and drums. In order to create a sense of contrasting sounds, the song includes both electric guitars as well as an acoustic guitar. The strings give the song a strong sense of emotion while the piano does a good job of lending a bright, gentle sound to the piece.
