I believe that much of the learning you will do in this course will occur outside of class. To help foster this, I've created a discussion group for the class. After each class, I will post a short synopsis (recap) of the day's content for you here. In addition, I will use this to notify you of assignments, cancelled classes, important stuff I neglected to mention in class and so forth. Only students enrolled in the class can subscribe.
To sign up, simply click the link below to send an email request to join the list. You will receive an email response explaining how to complete the sign-up process. Alternately, you can visit the list-info page and sign up online. Please subscribe using an email account you check frequently (you may use your connect.mercy.edu address, but please set this up to forward to your regular email account—see me for details on this...).
As group members, you can also post email to the group. This could be an announcement of general interest ("My band is playing Arlene's Grocery on..."), a question for me ("Professor Ward, what's the difference between how AFM and AFTRA pension payments are paid?") or to start a discussion related to the course content ("Does anyone get this Serato Pitch'n Time stuff Professor Ward was talking about today?"). All I ask is that you behave like adults and keep the tone of the discussion respectful to others.
Finally, please understand that e-mail sent to the group can be read by all group members. Most of the time, course-related questions should be directed to the group—remember, if you have a question, it is likely that others in the course are wondering the same thing. However, if you need help or want to bring up a personal issue, please contact me directly via e-mail: sward@mercy.edu.
