We looked at some typical envelopes both as representatives of acousti instruments and as archetypes for developing your own patches.

Envelope Types
Electric Organ:
instant attack and release. No decay 100% sustain.
Pipe Organ:
same, except med attack and release
Wind:
med attack, med decay, high sustain, med release
Drum:
instant attack med decay, no sustain
Cymbal:
instant attack, med initial decay, slow secondary decay, no sustain
Reverse Cymbal:
slow logarithmic attack, instant decay
Guitar:
instant attack, med-fast decay, low sustain, slow secondary decay
Pad:
slow attack & decay, medium to high sustain, slow release
Sforzando:
fast attack, fast decay, low sustain... rising to high (common brass effect)
