What This Course Promises You:

In Audio Production I, we learned fundamental audio engineering concepts and the components of a recording studio and how they fit together. In Audio Production II, we will to continue our discovery of audio engineering using Digidesign's Pro Tools software, which is fast becoming the standard platform for the recording industry. This success is due in part to the way Pro Tools integrates a number of the functions of the recording studio into a single virtual environment. These functions include: multitrack & mixdown recorders, patchbay, signal processing and a full-function digital mixer.

In addition to getting acquainted with Pro Tools, we will continue our examination of audio theory with a particular focus on how audio engineers change sound using signal processors such as equalization, compression and reverberation. We will further apply this theory in the context of mixing technique, an essential skill for any audio engineer, record producer, or songwriter.

Audio Production II, and its pre-requisite, Audio Production I (MTEC-101), provide the fundamental knowledge that will be extended in the Studio Workshops (MTEC-220 & -320) and in Digital Audio Systems (MTEC-301 & -302). Throughout these courses, we will gather and develop written and audio assets that will become part of our electronic portfolios.   >> Fulfilling these promises
